Take Action!
“The great end of life is not knowledge but action.”
Thomas Huxley
The world doesn’t reward us for what we know; it rewards us for what we do. For those that are in control of their own destiny, action is the key. On any given day by the coffee pot in most sales offices across America lies an expert that is starving even though he knows exactly what to do. They know absolutely everything about their product and how to sell it yet never makes a dime. He or she is very quick to offer unsolicited advice to anyone that will listen yet they don’t produce. People like this should listened to what Richard Keeves has to say, “Knowledge might be power, but only when you take action.” The key is to DO something, not to just talk about it. Put your coffee down and get to work!
Success in life isn’t easy but it is simple. Just take massive action every day until you achieve the life of your dreams. When you try something and it doesn’t work, change your strategy. Selfgrowth.com helps with this by giving countless resources of how others have succeeded from all walks of life. All you have to do is put a plan together and take action. If something isn’t working, try something else. Period!
Larry Heagney is my Uncle and highly successful in the business world. He was also a D student. He just squeaked through college and law school but ended up being a highly successful corporate officer at Milliken Textiles and was rewarded well for his efforts. He has now retired from the corporate world and is an extremely successful investor living in an exclusive gated community in Florida. Uncle Larry would always tell me that if I would just be the best at what I was doing, I would always be successful in life. It doesn’t matter if you are a doctor, lawyer or garbage man he would say, just be the best and the world will notice.
Uncle Larry didn’t succeed in the business world because of his education, he succeeded despite his education. If the business world judged him based on his grades he would have landed a job in the stock room instead of the board room. He would have been given a mop to clean the executive rest rooms instead of being given the key to it. I know many people that had all the tools and many advantages that my uncle never had, yet never came close to being as successful as Uncle Larry. It isn’t what you have that makes you successful; it is what you do with what you have that makes the difference.
Abraham Lincoln, being a man of action, said, “Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left behind by those who hustle”. It is amazing how many people get bogged down in analyzing, planning, organizing and getting — ready-to-get-ready when what they really need to do is take action and hustle. Just do something and success will be yours.
